Best Weather for Rock Fishing

Rock fishing, unlike regular fishing, is done from rocky outcrops into the sea. It can be done with a rod and reel, or just a line only. Certain methods can be used in rock fishing, such as both ground and surface which are generally used. Different forms of rock fishing can be done using artificial lure/bait and natural bait.

Knowing more about rock fishing, for starters, it is important to check the weather before engaging oneself into such. Rock fishing is hazardous as compared to typical fishing. Thus, it is important to be aware of the weather. You should be careful of the following; either one or a combination can be hazardous: rising tide waves and high tides, large waves, and strong winds.

Here are some tips before going into rock fishing:

  1. Always check for rising tides or high tides – It could cause the fishing spot to be covered by water. Worse, high tides cause waves to sweep into your fishing spot that will cause you to be trapped or swept into the rock.
  2. Always check for huge waves – Wide seas and vast caves are dangerous locations. Huge wave can cause you to get swept off from your spot.
  3. Always be wary of strong winds – As everyone should be aware of, strong winds can cause hazardous waves, causing also to make your spot wet or even push you off to wet and slippery rocks.

You also have to check for weather warnings. Also, you have to check for forecast on coastal areas to see if the waves are strong or not. And lastly, check for any predictions on rising tides. It is important to stay safe for this kind of fishing is very dangerous due to its location. One should always wear a life jacket and the appropriate footwear that is non-slippery.
